Are you Hurt and Angry?

Jesus came down from heaven the first time because God so loved the world (John 3:16). He also went up for the same exact reason.. leaving those that followed and loved Him to carry on His legacy. (Mark 16:15-16) He told Peter and the others to “put away the sword” (Matthew 26:52) just hours before He was whipped, crucified and died.

Today we have angry Christians who are mad at their brethren and others because they have been hurt! Jesus NEVER once told us to display our anger publicly! (Proverbs 15:1) He told us to LOVE (Luke 6:32, 1 John 4:7, 1 John 4:20. John 21:17, Ephesians 5:2, 1 Corinthians 13:4, Matthew 23:13, Luke 6:42, )… not BITE (Job 36:13, Mark 10:19)! We are to be PEACEMAKERS, not WARLORDS.

I fully believe, and I think that most Christians do too.. that we aren’t perfect.. we have all done things that would cause Jesus to turn His back on us.. Yet God was even faithful with Israel when they turned their backs on Him. Yet when God wanted to strike back at Israel, His love for them overshadowed His anger! (Isaiah 48:9, Romans 9:22)

Besides that, God will repay the unjust Himself! (Jeremiah 16:18, Romans 12:19) We have no part in repaying the bad that people do if it’s our anger that pays them back.

Are we not called to be Ambassadors of Christ? Are we not called to be not just followers and hearers of His Word, but doers also?

Keep that in mind when your anger rises up against one another.

  1. This is a very good post, Ed. So very true. And in these ugly times where anger toward everybody and everything abounds, it is an excellent reminder to us. I love how much Word you included. It is the Word of God that convicts us! Thanks for a great devotional this morning.
