But Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. Now as he went on his way, he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. And FALLING TO THE GROUND he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” And he said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. …
Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. AND WHEN I SAW IT, I FELL ON MY FACE, and I heard the voice of one speaking.
When Jesus said to them, “I am he,” THEY DREW BACK AND FELL TO THE GROUND.
When I saw him, I FELL AT HIS FEET, AS IF DEAD. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last,
When the disciples heard this, THEY FELL ON THEIR FACES and WERE TERRIFIED
So that the PRIESTS COULD NOT STAND TO MINISTER because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God. Mark 3:11 (Notice it’s the MINISTERS who could not stand… NOT the people who came for the blessing.)
Ask yourself this: if the Bible states that so many of the “leaders” fell at the throne of God, why aren’t the ministers who make themselves out to be the vessels through which people are slain, slain themselves?
The unclean spirits fell down and cried.. they cried out.. not wept, not silently either. It wasn’t just a single unclean spirit, NO! It was spirits! and the fell down.. harshly.. and CRIED OUT! Again.. it wasn’t a whisper.. and it wasn’t murmuring….
Why on earth would the same Jesus who told the lame man “Rise, take up your bed and walk!” (John 5:8-16).. Remember that the man was on the ground, and he probably had some difficulty getting up after being down for so long.. but the man ROSE UP…. he wasn’t “slain in the spirit” at all!
In short.. if a person is ever truly “slain the spirit” it would cause fear and trembling (and probably weeping) at the knees.. and not on their backs!
