Have you ever been in a difficult situation, perhaps similar to someone else’s? And one person is able to cope emotionally while the other is falling apart at the seams emotionally.
Why is it that one person can see things rationally while the other is incapable of seeing any brightness? Psychology tells us that our cognitive framework helps us in our ability to reason, which stems from our ability to process information.
But what about a brain that has been verbally abused? A brain that has been relentlessly bombarded with hurtful words throughout its lifetime, starting before the mind was fully developed? Most people would say that disability may result from physical punches to the head, but what about the impact of a lifetime of verbal sledgehammers?
Let’s consider Proverbs 12:18 (ESV), which states, “There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”
Throughout Scripture, we learn about the power of words in a person’s life, but who truly acknowledges the extent of the damage?
If you were to thrust a sword into my head, my brain would likely resemble Swiss cheese, rendering me unable to reason, if not worse.
Who can relate to this?
Therefore, a person who has endured a lifetime of mental torture through the weapons of words loses their cognitive clarity, making everything seem like a living death.
So, I ask again, why can one person be okay while another remains incapable, no matter how hard they try? Ultimately in the same situation?
The Lord’s revelation offers us wisdom to shed light on some of the darkest issues we face in America today, including mental illness.
Meanwhile, there is more to come later. In the Lord’s time, the bars will be lifted.
Job 38:36 (ESV) “Who has put wisdom in the inward parts or given understanding to the mind?”
Psalm 26:2 (ESV) “Prove me, O LORD, and try me; test my heart and my mind.”
James 3:5-6 (ESV) also reminds us of the power of the tongue: “So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness.”
In a time of great despair, mentally, America is not only facing a mental, emotional, physical, and fiscal emergency but also a spiritual crisis.
And the root of all this is the devil himself. Although the mental and emotional well-being of millions is at risk of being deceived by the greatest deception of all—through Christ—and as a living witness to the glory and healing found in Christ—knowing that there is an enemy present who influences the mind is powerful in accepting that there is a solution. It is not in prosperity churches or powerless religious institutions, but through the anointing of Christ.
For anyone sincere about God’s healing, whether in your own lives or the lives of others, I come to pour out the Living Water and truth entrusted to me by God through my own suffering and healing.
And while the sinister systems at play do all they can to keep what I have from you, in Christ the Lord cannot be defeated.
Good things take time.
Ephesians 6:12 (ESV) reminds us, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
Romans 16:20 (ESV) gives us hope: “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.”
