Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.<\/em>\u2014 John 3:20-21<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thomas Edison was concerned about the way visitors to his office helped themselves to his expensive Havana cigars. So since he refused to lock them up, his secretary suggested he have cigars made from cabbage leaves and substitute them for the premium cigars. Edison agreed, but then forgot about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He only remembered later when the Havanas started vanishing again. When he asked his secretary why the bogus cigars hadn\u2019t arrived, she told him they had arrived and had been given to his manager\u2014who, not knowing they were fakes, had packed them for Edison to take on a trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd do you know,\u201d<\/em> Edison laughed, \u201cI smoked every one of those cigars myself!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s amazing how people can very often deceive themselves when trying to deceive others. As Nathaniel Hawthorne said, \u201cNo man\u2026 can wear one face to himself, and another to the multitude, without finally getting bewildered as to which may be true.\u201d<\/em> When we don\u2019t live authentic lives before God and others, we can often forget who we really are.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But when you open up and allow others to see the real you, when you\u2019re honest with God about what you\u2019re struggling with, and when you begin to tear away the mask and live authentically, you\u2019ll discover what it means to really know yourself!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pray and ask God to help you be authentic before Him and others so that you would really know yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why do you think so many people try to wear one face to the world, and even to God, all the while keeping who they really are in the dark?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
